Top international fencers from six countries will be appearing at a first-class invitation tournament on nine pistes in the "Airport Arcades Cup".

In each of four competitions (men’s épée, women’s épée, men’s sabre, junior women’s foil) there will be twelve fencers, including numerous international fencers such as sabre world champion and world number one Nicolas Limbach, Christoph Kneip and Sven Schmid, both members of the national squad, and top foreign athletes such as Dutchman Bas Verwijlen and Michel Colling from Luxembourg - both number 1 in their country.

After her demonstration match, the star guest, Olympic champion Britta Heidemann, will be on the departures level talking to presenter Christian Keller, the former world-class swimmer, and answering questions.

Fantastic opportunities for visitors to get involved

Action pure and simple, à la Zorro: you can test the speed of your reactions on the electronic scoring wall.

At the Taster Fencing sessions for children and adults and under the guidance of experienced fencing coaches, those interested can try out for themselves what the stars in the tournament have shown in foil and épée. The most intrepid will then have the chance to test their abilities against an élite fencer on a genuine "piste". How élite fencers train will be shown in demonstration lessons.

In addition there will be insights into Asian martial arts with and without weapons. Film and theatre fencers will also make exciting presentations as part of the show. And at a photo exhibition visitors can also have their photograph taken in fencing gear.

Colourful supporting programme with numerous Airlebnis attractions.

Numerous Airlebnis attractions, such as free airport tours, various draws, a large children’s play and craft area as well as lots of other fun activities will round off the great fencing event in the terminal.
