Your case or bag must not exceed a maximum length of 56 cm, a width of 42 cm and a depth of 25 cm.  Garment bags may not exceed the ‘agreed’ dimensions. Either check before you leave home whether your hand luggage is the right size or simply use one of the hand luggage frames which have been specially installed in the airport’s check-in hall to ensure you comply with this security measure. If your bag does not comply with the specified dimensions, please hand it in at check-in as registered luggage.

Hand luggage
You can find out from your airline the maximum permitted size and weight of a piece of hand luggage. What can you put in your hand luggage? What do you have to put in the luggage you check in? Liquids in hand luggage

Left luggage
Our left luggage will accept all types of luggage, from suitcase to cycle to surfboard. You’ll find the left luggage on the ground floor of car park 3.

Porter service
The porter service provided by the company APCOA will take care of your luggage and is at your disposal up to check-in and/or after you’ve reclaimed your luggage.

Luggage trolleys
Luggage trolleys are to be found at all important points throughout the airport concourse. There is a fee of €1.00 per luggage trolley in the departure areas. The use of luggage trolleys is free in the central arrivals security area.

100% luggage checks
In cooperation with the federal police and to optimise air safety, Düsseldorf Airport carries out on all flights a check of every piece of luggage, a process which involves a multi-stage examination of all the luggage checked in.

After check-in your item of luggage undergoes up to three levels of checking. We recommend that you carry film material in your hand luggage to prevent any damage. Should the checks find any unidentifiable objects in your case, you will be called to identify the luggage. Please follow directions and instructions at once. Should you not appear to identify your luggage, your cases will not be transported.

Passengers who hand in their luggage on the day before the flight (Late Night Check-in) are asked to remain in the building after check-in for approximately another 15 minutes to wait and see whether luggage identification is necessary.

Luggage sealing
If you want additional protection for your valuable items of luggage, the service provided by Safer Bag is perhaps just what you need: your luggage is wrapped in a robust plastic foil (Baggage Wrapper), protecting it from scratches and damp. This service located on the terminal’s departure level costs €5 per luggage item.
